I had read about it many weeks ago and anxiously was waiting to see the great merchandise that I knew this Paris store could do. Quel disappointment!! It is housed in the little store next to the large Gap on 54th and Fifth Avenue. Previously this store housed Gap accessories and it had other incarnations. Since it was Sunday I did not rush for the opening hours but meandered up around 1:00pm. There was a small line but they realized we were blocking an office building and started to put up ropes and stands. I thought while waiting,which was about 15 minutes, that this is so odd for me to be standing in a line for fashion. Did that back when I was a fashionette but it has been 5 years since I said good bye to that world. It was fashion week so there were some fashionettes on the line and lots of Japanese. I noticed not many bags coming out, but some. They even issued a special bag for the event. Well, I finally got in and what a hoax. Some t shirts with printed fronts, over priced decorated jean jackets, post it note pads, key chains, head phones…. just stupid stuff to a normal person. When I left maybe one minute later and saw the Japanese on the line which now extended further towards the end of the block i thought they would fall for this. I wanted to shout out to all the rest “this is not worth it….all hype”. This goes on for the rest of the month, I think, but don’t know and would never tell anyone to go. The Gap ruined a good thing….again.
